Someone told me not to buy coffee from the supermarket, is this true?
Without knowing what brand of coffee you may be referring to, I can sat that coffee is best consumed 1-2 weeks after it has been roasted. Supermarkets would order their products from a distribution centre that could be located in their own city or perhaps another state. After roasting, it is difficult to say how long the coffee sits on a shelf at the distribution centre before being shipped to the supermarket. If it is imported coffee, then add about 8 weeks travelling time on a merchant ship from Europe. There is a good chance that be the time the coffee sits in your cup ready for drinking, it could be 3 months old.
