  • Q. Which coffee machine is best for my business?

    A.
We like to think of buying a coffee machine as something that will

    Reward staff
    Impress your clients
    Increase productivity

If you're going to invest in a machine, think long term. If you select the right machine, its highly unlikely that you'll be looking to trade it in after 2 years unless your business has grown substancially. Remember the 80/20 rule, that is 80% of the people in your office will drink at least one cup of coffee per day. If you have 50 staff that means you need to find a machine capable of dispensing around 80 cups per day.

  • Q. What is the best Coffee for my Machine?

    A.
That's not an easy question to answer as everyone has their own individual tastes. One thing I believe is that you are more likely to get a fresher, better tasting coffee from one of our dozens of coffee roasters in Australia. The best coffee is also the freshest coffee and you won't get that buying imported coffee that has spent up to 8 weeks on a ship travelling across the ocean. Spending $ 5.00 more on a kilo of good coffee only equates to about 5 cents per cup so go on you won't regret it.

  • Q. Do you do Demonstrations?

    A.
We have a modern showroom conveniently located in Richmond. Many of the machines we sell are available for customers to come in and have a look at. Because we only sell coffee machines, you will be sure get our undivided attention as we demonstrate all of the features of our machines.

  • Q. Do you deliver outside Victoria?

    A.
Yes we can ship a machine anywhere in Australia. All of our machines come with an easy to use instruction manual and CD Rom. There's great enjoyment in setting the machine up yourself just the way you like it and remember that we are only a phone call away if you get stuck.

  • Q. Espresso or Automatic?

    A.
The big question is do you want consistency in delivering a good coffee every time you use the machine?

If the answer is yes then like most of us the right automatic coffee machine is the best choice. Most of today's higher end Swiss coffee machines will deliver a great espresso and froth milk like a barista without needing to take lessons on how to do it.

    Three key things to remember while hunting around for the right machine;

1/ Make sure the machine has a sophisticated    frothing attachment and not just a cheap wand

2/ Treat yourself to premium coffee from a roaster here in Australia and stay away from supermarket coffee

3/ Don't expect to get something decent without spending in access of $ 1,000

  • Q. Can you rent any coffee machine?

    A. Yes, all of the machines we sell can be rented. The minimum term is 24 months and all of the machines are covered for parts & labour for the duration of the rental period. That's peace of mind.

  • Q. I have a Jura F50 that came with a steam wand. I would like to know if I can purchase an automatic frother for it?

    A. Yes, most Jura parts are interchangeable and the  autofrother will fit all F series machines without needing any modifications. Carefully pull off the steam wand  where the rubber joins-then insert the autofrother in its place. Make sure the autofrother fits securely in place.

  • Q. Where is the best place to store coffee?

    A. Never store coffee beans in the fridge or freezer. Once opened, coffee will absorb odours from food kept in the fridge which will impact the flavour. The freezer will make coffee sweat and become oily which will also impact the taste. The best place to keep coffee is in a dark, dry place and if opened, preferably in an air tight container.

  • Q. Do I need to adjust the grinder on my Jura S9 Avantgarde prior to using it for the first time?

    A. The grinder on all Jura machines allows for 6 different settings. It is important the first time you use the machine not to grind coffee too fine. Run 2 or 3 cups through the machine to start then you can adjust the grinder to a finer setting if you wish. Generally the darker the roast-the coarser the grind.

  • Q. Someone told me not to buy coffee from the supermarket, is this true?

    A. Without knowing what brand of coffee you may be referring to, I can sat that coffee is best consumed 1-2 weeks after it has been roasted. Supermarkets would order their products from a distribution centre that could be located in their own city or perhaps another state. After roasting, it is difficult to say how long the coffee sits on a shelf at the distribution centre before being shipped to the supermarket. If it is imported coffee, then add about 8 weeks travelling time on a merchant ship from Europe. There is a good chance that be the time the coffee sits in your cup ready for drinking, it could be 3 months old.

  • Q. My Jura Z5 grinds the beans but the coffee ends up in the grounds container, what causes this?

    A. The brew unit in all Jura machines constantly moves up and down when you make a coffee. At the bottom of the brew unit, a rubber seal or o-ring as its sometimes called, heats and cools as well as being stretched. Over a period of time the o-ring becomes brittle and breaks, which prohibits water from pouring over the coffee which ultimately ends up in the grounds bin.

  • Q. How do I differentiate between cappuccino & latte on my new Jura S9 Avantegarde One Touch?

    A. The new Jura series S9A & Xs90/95 have a different layout then the models they superceded. It is no longer necessary to froth the milk on one side and then draw coffee off from the middle spout as coffee & milk now come from the same spout. Simply place your cup or mug under the automatic frother on the right side of the machine. Select by pressing either the button on the left side directly below the display or the button on the right side below the display. Once the coffee beans finish grinding, the pump will start to draw milk into the cup and once finished, the coffee will then begin pouring. You will need to rotate the dial to either the 2 o'clock position for froth or 5 o'clock position for warm milk.

  • Q. What kind of chocolate does my WMF Presto use?

    A.

The WMF Presto blends chocolate with water before warm milk is mixed into the cup. For this reason, you must use special "vending" chocolate which is soluble and made to blend with water without clogging up the mixer in the machine. Stay away from general drinking chocolate as it doesn't have the same ingredients as vending chocolate and will mean more time spend cleaning the mixer.

  • Q. What happens to the cleaning tablet that I drop into my Jura coffee machine?

    A. Every coffee machine requires some cleaning to remove fatty acid & oil that builds up on the shower in the brew unit. Special cleaning tablets are needed to clean the brew unit because you cannot take out the brew unit to clean it by hand. The cleaning tablets are made of a special chemical that is mixed with warm water and removes the fatty acids automatically. The tablet disolves in the brew unit and ends up in the drip tray mixed with water. It is not harmfull in small doses but you can ask for a Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) if you want to know more about the composition of the cleaning agent.

  • Q. How do I initiate the cleaning program for a WMF Presto coffee machine?

    A. When looking at the user panel, simply press the display screen in the lower right hand corner and the "menu"symbol will appear. Press the menu once to get into the sub menu and then press the cleaning symbol on the lower left side of the screen. You now have the option to run a full cleaning program (milk line & tablet clean) or just the milk line. Press the number on the display that corresponds with the cleaning you want to start. A full cleaning progam will take approximately 15 minutes.

  • Q. Why do some coffee machines require 20 amp power?

    A. Most modern coffee machines run off standard 10 amp power which is the same as most domestic appliances. Most high capacity coffee machines like the WMF Bistro and Bistro Easy operate on 20 amp power, because the machines are more sophisticated  and can recover from a high number of coffee's dispensed much faster than would otherwise be the case.

  • Q. How long will the water filter on my WMF 1000 last?

    A. The integrated water filter for the WMF 1000 coffee machine will last for 200 litres of water that is cycled through it. The machine will display "replace filter"when it is time to change the filter.

  • Q. What is the main difference between Fair Trade and Rainforest Alliance coffee?

    A. Fair Trade products including coffee are availalbe in many outlets that support a "Fair"price for the farmers that grow the products.  The Fair Trade system guarantees to pay the farmers & growers a fair price for their products to help improve the quality of life in impoverished communities in South America & Africa. The extra money that is paid out goes towards building schools, hospitals, infrastructure and the environment. The Rainforest Alliance program concentrates on helping to sustain the environment, with the main focus being on planting new trees for sustained grow.
